Who it is for

3 London scenarios

Who this is for in London

Most London business websites do not have a content problem; they have a page problem. The business sells eight services and has one services page. It serves four boroughs and has one "areas" paragraph. Customers ask the same twenty questions before buying and the site answers none of them. SEO content is the work of giving the site a page for each search that matters, written well enough to be chosen when it appears. Three situations we see most often:

  • A law firm in Holborn with eleven practice areas on one page and a news section full of case commentary written for other lawyers. A client searching "settlement agreement solicitor London" finds a competitor with a plain page that explains the process, the cost and the timescale, and never sees this firm at all.
  • An estate agency in Wandsworth with branches in Battersea, Clapham and Putney and a single "about us" that mentions all three. The searches that bring landlords and sellers are local and specific, and the agency has no page for any of them.
  • A Canary Wharf fintech whose blog publishes product updates nobody searches for, while the questions its buyers do search for ("open banking for accountants", "how to choose a payments provider") are answered by competitors and by comparison sites.

It also fits ecommerce brands whose collection and product pages carry supplier copy, clinics and dental practices whose treatment pages need to satisfy both the searcher and the regulator, and any business whose expertise is real but has never been written down. It is not for businesses who want volume for its own sake. We will not publish eight articles a month that nobody searches for, and we do not sell word counts.

What you get

Search-led content map
Every piece planned against a search with real demand and a page to own it, so the site never publishes two pages for one intent or one page for none.
Service pages
A page for each service you sell, written to answer what the searcher wants to know, with the proof, the process and the next step on the page.
Location pages
Pages for the parts of London you genuinely serve, each with its own substance: local searches, local examples, local proof. Never a template with the borough swapped.
Guides and articles
Long-form pieces built around the questions customers ask before they buy, structured to be read, cited and summarised.
Product and collection copy
For stores: category introductions and product descriptions that replace supplier text and describe what you sell to the person buying it.
Content refresh and pruning
Existing pages improved, merged or removed on evidence, because a site with two hundred thin pages ranks worse than one with sixty good ones.
Sector editing
Every piece read by someone who knows the sector and its rules, including advertising and professional-body rules for regulated businesses.
Performance report
Impressions, clicks and conversions by page from Search Console and GA4, so you can see which pieces earn their place.

How it works

  1. 01

    Map

We build the content map from search data, your existing pages and the competitors who outrank you: what to write, what to improve, what to remove.

  2. 02

    Brief

Each piece gets a written brief: the search it answers, the questions to cover, the proof to include, the pages to link, the tone, the length that the search actually needs.

  3. 03

    Interview

For service and expert content we talk to the people in your business who do the work. Their knowledge is what makes the page worth ranking.

  4. 04

    Write and edit

Written by our content team, edited for the sector and for plain English, checked against the brief and the rules that apply to your industry.

  5. 05

    Publish and link

Published with titles, descriptions, headings, schema and internal links in place, or handed to your team with all of that specified.

  6. 06

    Measure and improve

Each piece tracked by page. What earns, we build on; what does not, we improve or remove.

How we do it

Every piece starts with a search

We build a content map before anything is written: the searches that matter to your business in London, grouped by intent, matched against the pages you already have and the pages your competitors have. Each piece on the map has one search to own, one page to live on and one job to do. That discipline prevents the two commonest failures: two pages competing for the same search, and a page published with no search behind it. Our own site is built this way, with a guard that refuses two pages claiming the same phrase.

A brief that someone could be held to

Each piece gets a written brief: the search it answers, the questions it must cover (taken from what people actually ask, not guessed), the proof it should include, the pages it should link to and be linked from, the tone, the regulatory rules that apply, and the length the search needs rather than a round number. The brief is yours to see before a word is written.

Your expertise, written down

For service pages and expert guides we interview the people in your business who do the work: the solicitor, the surgeon, the surveyor, the chef. Half an hour of their knowledge produces a page no competitor can copy, because it contains things only your people know. Generic content loses to specific content, and the specifics come from you.

Written to be read, edited for the sector

Short sentences, plain words, British English, the answer near the top. A reader on a phone decides in seconds whether a page is for them. Each piece is edited by someone who knows the sector and the rules that shape it: advertising codes for clinics and aesthetics, professional-body rules for law and finance, claims substantiation for anything that states a figure. Where we use AI tools in research or drafting, a person briefs, edits, fact-checks and signs off every piece, and nothing goes out that reads like it was generated.

Location pages that earn their place

A page for Wandsworth or Camden is worth publishing only if it says something true and specific about serving customers there: the searches people make, the kind of work you have done, the places you cover. We write location pages for areas a business genuinely serves and refuse to write thirty-two with the borough swapped. The approach is set out in the guide to ranking in your London borough.

Content for AI search as well as Google

Pages that answer a question clearly, state facts with sources and are structured with headings and lists are the pages that AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Gemini draw on. We write that way as standard, mark up FAQs and articles with schema, and track how AI systems describe the business. Nobody can guarantee a citation, and we do not; the writing that earns them is the same writing that earns rankings. See the guide to AI search and GEO.

Pruning counts as content work

A site with two hundred thin pages usually ranks worse than the same site with sixty good ones. Part of every content plan is deciding what to improve, merge, redirect or remove. We make that case with the data from Search Console, and we document every decision.

What changes, and when

New and improved pages are usually indexed within days and begin to earn impressions within two to eight weeks, which is when you first see which searches a page is appearing for. Pages built for local London searches often show within one to three months. Competitive London head terms usually take six to twelve months, and for those the content is one part of the work beside the technical foundations and the authority of the site. These are typical ranges from our own work, not a promise for your site, and the monthly report shows which range each page is in.

What you will hold from the first month: a content map you can see, briefs you can read, and pages on your site that describe what you do for the people who search for it, all owned by you. What we will not promise: a position or a date. Google says nobody can guarantee a ranking and our code of ethics commits us to the same.

How it is measured

Content is measured by page: impressions and clicks by search from Search Console, time on page and conversions (enquiries, calls, purchases) from GA4, and, for guides, whether they earn links and citations over time. Every piece on the map has the search it was written for, so we can show whether it is appearing for that search and what it has earned. A written report arrives every month, pieces that are not earning are improved or removed, and at 90 days we review the whole plan with you. The guide to SEO content that ranks explains the measures in more depth.

On proof: our published content work is social and editorial rather than SEO content with a traffic figure, and we would rather be clear about that than borrow a number. The British Muslim Heritage Centre case shows the production capacity, with forty-five or more content assets a month; that is an output figure, not a results figure. Innovate College London shows editorial content for a London institution on a consistent schedule, with no performance figures published. We have not yet published an SEO content case with a traffic or enquiry figure, and we say so.

What it costs to find out

Before any quote, an SEO specialist reviews your site for free. The free SEO audit is a written review delivered within two working days: where the site appears today for the five searches that matter most, the content gaps against the two sites that outrank you, the pages competing with each other, and the three fixes that matter most, written so you could act on them yourself. No automated score, no call required, three fields on the form. Prices for ongoing content work are on the pricing page, where each tier lists the number of pieces a month and everything else included.

Common mistakes we see on London sites

  • One services page for eight services, so no page can rank for any of them.
  • A blog that publishes company news and industry commentary nobody searches for, while the questions customers ask go unanswered.
  • Location pages produced by swapping the borough name into a template, which Google treats as the doorway pages they are.
  • Supplier descriptions on every product, shared with twenty other stockists.
  • Pages written for a word count, with the answer buried under eight hundred words of introduction.
  • Two or three pages targeting the same search, so none of them ranks.
  • Content that states figures with no source, or makes claims a regulator would challenge, especially in clinics, finance and law.
  • Generated text published without a person reading it, which readers and search engines both recognise.

How it fits with other services

Content is one of the three things an SEO retainer does, beside the technical foundations and authority. It depends on technical SEO to make sure the pages can be crawled and are fast; it feeds digital PR and link building, because the guides and data pieces we write are what earns the coverage; and it is the raw material for AI search optimisation. For businesses serving particular parts of London the location pages sit beside local SEO and the Business Profile. For stores, the collection and product copy is part of ecommerce SEO. Owners who want to understand what makes a page rank before commissioning one can read the guide to SEO content that ranks.

Questions

10 questions

SEO content: questions answered

Do you guarantee the content will rank?
No. Nobody honest can, and Google itself says so. What we guarantee is the work: the content map, the briefs and the agreed number of pieces each month, written and published to the standard described on this page. If a listed deliverable is missed in a month for a reason within our control, that month is credited.
How long before new content shows results?
New pages are usually indexed within days and begin to earn impressions within two to eight weeks. Pages built for local London searches often show within one to three months. Competitive head terms usually take six to twelve months. These are typical ranges from our own work, not a promise for your site, and the monthly report shows which range each page is in.
Who writes the content?
Our content team writes it, with a specialist editing each piece for the sector and an SEO specialist checking it against the brief. For expert pages we interview the people in your business who do the work. Everyone involved is named on the team page. Nothing is bought from an anonymous marketplace.
Do you use AI to write content?
We use AI tools for research, outlining and first-pass drafting where they help, and a person briefs, edits, fact-checks and signs off every piece. Nothing is published that a person has not read and rewritten where needed. Readers and search engines both recognise unedited generated text, and it does not rank for long.
Is there a minimum contract?
No minimum term. You can leave on 30 days’ written notice, including in month one, and every piece of content we have written is yours to keep and use. The terms are on our before-you-sign page in plain English and match the contract. These terms are proposed and are confirmed in writing before you sign.
What decides the price?
The number of pieces a month, their type and length (a service page, a product description and a two-thousand-word guide are different jobs), how much interviewing and sector editing is needed, and whether we publish on your site or hand over copy. Each tier on the pricing page states the number of pieces included; we never quote a figure that is not there.
We are a regulated business. Can you write within our rules?
Yes. Every piece is edited by someone who knows the sector, and we work to the advertising code and the relevant professional-body guidance for clinics, dental practices, law firms and financial businesses. Where a claim cannot be substantiated, it is not made. Your compliance team can review every brief and every draft before publication.
Do you write location pages for every London borough?
Only for areas you genuinely serve and can say something true about. Thirty-two pages with the borough name swapped are doorway pages, and they do more harm than good. We would rather write five location pages with real substance than thirty-two that Google ignores.
Can you improve the content we already have instead of writing new pages?
Often that is the better plan. The content map covers what exists as well as what is missing, and many sites gain more from improving, merging and pruning existing pages than from adding new ones. We make that case with Search Console data and document every decision.
Who owns the content?
You do, from the moment it is delivered, whether or not you continue working with us. That is written into our terms.
